چکیده

This paper exploits the sub-district randomization of Indonesia's household Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program to analyze how the program a ects the local health care market. The CCT program is associated with increased use of midwives as the main delivery attendants. The program is associated with a 10% increase in both the number of midwives and the delivery fees charged by midwives in treated communities. The program participants report receiving a higher quality of prenatal care. This is due, however, not to improvements in quality of care in the market, but to increased utilization among program participants. JEL codes: I1, I3, O1 ∗Email: [email protected]. Regional Incentives and Patient Cross-Border Mobility: Evidence from the Italian Experience

Background In recent years, accreditation of private hospitals followed by decentralisation of the Italian National Health Service (NHS) into 21 regional health systems has provided a good empirical ground for investigating the Tiebout principle of “voting with their feet”. Incoherent policies on universal coverage of health insurance and promotion of international trade in health services in Thailand.

The Thai government has implemented universal coverage of health insurance since October 2001. Universal access to antiretroviral (ARV) drugs has also been included since October 2003. These two policies have greatly increased the demand for health services and human resources for health, particularly among public health care providers. After the 1997 economic crisis, private health care provid...
